Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tips and Tricks to help you win every time
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tips and Tricks
1. Don’t forget to check your rearview mirror.
Like in any driving situation, don’t forget to check your rearview mirror. To see what’s going on behind you (this is especially important if you are ahead) Press and hold “X” on your Switch. Which leads us to our next tip.
2. Hold/throw things behind you.
If you’re already ahead, this is important to stay ahead. If you hold an item behind you like a shell or banana, it will block shots or automatically hit someone who’s tailgating you.
3. Stunt Boosts
Use the “R” button for drifting and stunt boosts. The easiest places for an opportune stunt boost are ramps. If you press “R” right before you leap off of an edge of a ramp, you’ll get a small boost. You’ll know when you’ve gotten a stunt boost as your JoyCon will rumble and there will be a sound effect!
4. Smart Steering
Maybe you’re new to Mario Kart? If you haven’t gotten the steering down quite yet, this trick is for you! Press the “+” button while you are choosing your kart or during the middle of the game (you’ll need to pause it). You can enable smart steering there. You won’t be running off the track with this feature.
By enabling auto-accelerate on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the “A” button will be handled. Beginners may opt to use the smart steering and auto-acceleration together to get a hold on drifting, steering and picking up/using items within the game.
Almost every track has a small shortcut built-in. As you learn the track, learn the shortcuts. Some of them are easier to land than others. Practice makes perfect and you’ll notice a difference once you start hitting those shortcuts!
If you’re more accustomed to the feel of a traditional Nintendo Controller, this will be your style. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller offers more features that will help you game better. The Pro Controller has the same buttons as the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode and is designed to be held and operated more easily than the Joy-Con controllers. The primary difference in the controls is that while the directional controls on the Joy-Con (L) are made up of different buttons, the pro controller has a single plus control pad, similar to previous systems.
Those are our tips and tricks to get you started. You’ll be a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe pro before you know it. Whether you’re looking for the game, console, or extra controllers, always keep us at the forefront of your mind–dear gamer! Don’t pay RRP, drift your way into a great deal!
